Mass. man faces manslaughter, OUI, hit-and-run charges in fatal crash

A 67-year-old man is facing drunken driving, manslaughter and hit-and-run charges in connection with a Friday crash in Wareham in which a motorcyclist was killed, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office. Wareham resident Raymond Cardoza is accused of crimes in connection with the death of 25-year-old Jordan Hansen, the district attorney's office said in a press release. Cardoza has been charged with operating under the influence resulting in manslaughter, operating under the influence — 4th offense, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Wareham police responded to the crash near 2628 Cranberry Hwy. around 5:05 p.m., the district attorney's office said. Emergency personnel found Hansen on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham before being transferred to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford where he died of his injuries. Cardoza and his car were found a quarter-mile from the crash scene, the district attorney's office said. He was arrested after being identified as the driver involved in the crash. Cardoza is being held on $100,000 cash bail, the district attorney's office said. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Wareham District Court. Wareham police and the district attorney's office are still investigating the crash.
